A book is a passport to imagination.
Children's books are in short supply in Nicaragua. Out of 1.7 million children, less than 5% have access to a lending library with children's books. An even smaller number have any kind of books in their home. And schools are sorely underfunded, with many classrooms relying on a single, tattered textbook for more than 40 students to share.
HELP US FUND A READING PROGRAM
A small team of volunteers is traveling to Nicaragua June 30th to July 10th to support community libraries. We are raising funds to help purchase books and educational supplies for as many children as we can.
EVERY DOLLAR GOES DIRECTLY TO PUTTING BOOKS IN THE HANDS OF CHILDREN
A child with access to a community library is 300% more likely to complete her primary education.
This trip is organized through Go For Hope International, a 501c3 education charity. Go For Hope has been supporting community libraries in Nicaragua since 2011. In addition to books, community libraries provide economical and efficient community resources, bolster educational outcomes, and offer much-needed social services.
